7 Reasons Why Dark Roast Copy Co. Should Write Your Website

Isn’t this nice? 

It’s you and me, curled up in some super comfy chairs in the coziest coffee shop imaginable. 

It’s raining outside.

You have your favorite beverage in hand.

I have dark roast, of course.

And we’re just going to have a little coffee chat about why I should write your website.

This isn’t a sales pitch. Nuh-uh. It’s a comfortable coffee chat, which is much more preferable in my opinion.

So, I take another sip of my dark roast, and we get to talking.

1. I’m an anti-icky sales copywriter

You know what people are sick of these days? Being sold too.

So many business owners want to make more sales in their businesses, but are worried about coming across as too salesy.

Luckily, there is totally a way to get people to fall in love with your services and your brand, without being icky, guilt-tripping, or unethical in your copy.

It requires digging into the nuances of your business, having a healthy dose of empathy, and a lot of creativity, but it’s definitely possible.

The last thing I want is for you to get your copy back and cringe internally (and luckily, that’s never happened with my clients!)

2. Your copy is going to read like a conversation (not a cliché sales pitch)

I’m all about turning your website into a chill coffee chat rather than a sales pitch.

Yes, we’ll be adding in the sales tactics of course, but it will sound like conversation, not a pitch.

Especially for service providers, personal brands, and experts who have a strong perspective, people don’t want to be sold to. They want to engage, connect, and feel accomplished by aligning themselves with you.

That’s accomplished though conversations, not sales pitches.

Also, it’s just so much more fun to read (and write) a website that’s written conversationally. People are social creatures, and it pays to lean into that conversational, social nature we all have.

3. I’m a pro at writing in your voice

One of the questions I’m asked most often is how I’m able to write in my client’s voices.

The answer is a 2-pronged approach:

1) A streamlined process with good questions – My process is set up so that I’m able to get a good understanding of your voice from your questionnaire and the research I’m doing. I know exactly what questions to ask to draw out your voice and how you want to be perceived.

2) I’m a theatre kid who’s good a mimicking people – What can I say? Some of my ability for writing in someone else’s voice comes from the cringy disposition I have for playing other people. Might as well put my BFA in Acting to good use, right?

Both of these parts to my approach to writing in your voice are skills I’ve developed over time, and my revision process is also in place so we can make sure every word sounds like you (but the best version of you) in the final product.

4. My process is as smooth as butter

The ONLY heavy lifting you have to do throughout the process is filling out my questionnaire.

After that, please just show up to calls, give me feedback, and answer the questions I have for you.

This is Done-For-You in the truest sense of the word, but rest assured, you won’t ever have to micromanage your project or wonder what stage of the process is next.

5. You’re gonna be your web designer’s favorite client

I deliver your copy in a Google doc that’s wireframed to look like a website, with tons of direction on navigation, user experience, plugging elements into your site, and how the copy is supposed to work on the page.

When I show my web designer friends my wireframes, they’re practically wiping the drool off their face because I make it so easy for them.

Trust me when I say, your website designer wants you to work with a copywriter before they create your website. This post here is proof of that.

All the direction I give to you on bringing your website to life will be easily passed on to your designer — making their life super easy, and you their favorite client.

6. I use classic sales tactics to make your website high-converting

Of course, there are sales tactics that are tried-and-true for a reason. Putting a fresh spin on them in your copy is how we make your website high-converting, without sounding salesy.

For example, we’ll want to gently remind people of the opportunity cost of not booking with you.

We’ll paint you as an expert so they’ll automatically defer to you.

And we’ll prime them through storytelling so they feel like you understand them before we even invite them to look at your offers.

It’s a hundred tiny things that make a website successful, so you can bet we’ll be hitting all the sales tactics needed for you to get an ROI on your website while still sounding like yourself.
